60 Years of

Honoring our past.

Celebrating our present.

Strengthening our future.

Since 1961, The Advent School has stayed true to its founding vision: an urban school whose community reflects the diversity of Boston; a forward thinking curriculum that inspires and engages a child’s passion for learning; a commitment to social justice; and a culture of collaboration where every child has the confidence to take action in a connected world.

Advent’s Incomparable History

In 1961, as the city of Boston experienced de facto school segregation, a group of forward-thinking community members recognized a critical need for a school to serve families of all races and economic backgrounds. The Church of the Advent offered space in its parish house , and under the leadership of Mona C. Hull, the vision for The Advent School came to life.

Advent’s Inspiring Curriculum

We believe that children are autonomous agents in their own education. Students make choices and accept responsibility for their learning. Through our progressive, reggio emilia-inspired curriculum, The Advent School acts as a partner in learning through a social justice lens.

Advent’s Hope for the Future

We believe that a better world is possible. An Advent education teaches the next generation of leaders to learn with passion, act with courage, and change the world. The School teaches students to recognize and expect connections within their learning and to cross the boundaries between disciplines freely.
